I have a DOS accounting software that I need to install on a W2K Pro machine with SP4.

How do I install and successfully run any DOS program on Windows 2000? I tried Add/Remove Programs and it didnt work.

    Thanks for any help!

Good ole DOS is obviously going the way of the dinosaur. If the program you wish to perpetuate won't run straight out in Win2K and you don't want to put the effort into tweaking or repackaging, you may want to consider a dual boot system with Win9x and run your stuff from that system. You might get some help from this location -->

    Good luck

Thanks Top Dog for the help.

I'm curious - what does repackaging and tweaking entail in this case?

    Thanks!

Most DOS programs are self contained and don't really need to be 'installed' as we think of it these days.

You should be able to just put the app with all it's pieces into a folder and then run it from there. Do make a desktop shortcut pointing to the exe though.

Very possible with some that you'd need to make some changes to the desktop shortcut.
