I have installed a new HD which involved re-installing everything. Now all is ok, except that the auto disconnect function does not appear any more. A couple of months ago, someone else reported this problem and I have tried all the suggestions that were made then i.e.

Under internnet options, ensuring that the box for disconnect when a connection no longer seems to be required is ticked.

    Modifying the registery entry to 01 00 00 00

Deleting the connection and re-making it.

Can anyone suggest anything else to try please?

Have a look at the section of this page titled Autodisconnect doesn't work . There's several things you can try. Some you've tried but perhaps there's something there you haven't tried yet.

Thank you Zander. I have tried that lot, but still no joy!

Any other ideas other than wiping the HD and doing it all again - I don't think I could face that.

Its 98 SE. In fact though, my stupidity in mucking about gave such a fault that I had to bite the bullet and re-install everything, a full day's work! Auto disconnect is now working thank goodness. I still don't know what it was though.
