Hi.. I think I have some things on my startup menu that I did not download. They are: MTYJ63F (tried to delete this and it said that Windows was using it) Mtyj6f3, and Mtyj6. These were added to my computer on 11/13th. Also have WSE0S6..and dont know what that is either. "System properties" is also on this menu. (the menu that I am talking about is the one you get when you hit Ctlr-Alt-Delet) I do not know how to clear this stuff off or what to do with it. I think I had a bunch of spyware/adware.. and loaded AdAware and SpyBot. Loaded these on 11/17th. I am on AOL 9.0 using dial up access. Please help. I just am at a loss on how to get this stuff off. I am on a gateway Pent 111 with windows 98..dont think I ever installed any upgrades. Thank you for any help. Stay safe and have a great day.

cstarr2rs--That is not your Startup menu. That is the Close Program menu and it is showing you most of the programs which are presently running on your PC. They may have started running automatically when you booted, or you may have started them afterwards yourself.
To see (again most of) the programs which are set to start when you boot, click Start|Run|type msconfig|OK|Startup tab. Tell us what appears, especially those programs which have a check in the box to the left. Is there anything there that seems associated with the initials MTYJ or WSE?
Here are lists of program which often do start at boot, with recommendations whether you need to have them start at boot.
    http://www.3feetunder.com/krick/startup/list.html
    http://www.pacs-portal.co.uk/startup_content.htm
You can see that not many programs are required at boot.
You say you have downloaded AdAware and SpybotS&D, but have you run scans with them? They do not run in the background themselves.
P.S. I ran those names in searches on www.google.com. Nothing with the specific names you mention, but MTYJ seems associated with medicinal and Tamil (!) sites. WSE could be associated with all sorts of things, one being Web Services Enhancements for .NET.

cstarr2rs--Those sites I gave you will tell you what is needed to run on boot. But I doubt you will find the MTYJ program listed.
One way to try to find out what that is is to run a Find on MTYJ , then if you find such files, especially with .exe or .dll at the end, right click on it, click Properties, click Version tab and see what it tells you. You could try the same on WSE.
In any event, I suggest you run AdAware and see if it finds spyware, especially spyware with MTYJ or WSE in the title. Let AdAware quarantine any baddies and go back to MSCONFIG and uncheck the boxes next to all the programs you no longer want to have start. Reboot.
If you have no problems with your PC for several days, go back to AdAware and delete the items in Quarantine.
HXDL.exe, for one, is a trojan, that I think you do not want but AdAware should pick up and delete for you.
P.S. For what it is worth, the only programs I have running on startup are Scan Registry, System Tray, Antivirus, Firewall, Load Power Profile, a time synchronization program, Tweak UI and Task Monitor.
