Yesterday I tried to install NAV 2004 for my friend who uses Netscape 7.0 on OS 98SE. It aborted saying it needed IE5.1 or better and could find it on CD, however IE 6 was the only thing on CD and then just the small set up. She has never used IE and since she is on dial up didn't want to wait for huge download.
In re-reading the installation book it mentioned it was compatible with Netscape 4.79 or 6 but nothing about 7.0 or better. I aborted the installation and reverted back to the previous IE. Can you shed any light on this? I suggested she return the NAV 2004 for a refund. I reinstalled her previous NAV for protection in the interim.

    Hi ivajig,

This is an NAV KB Article:
Norton SystemWorks 2004 requires Internet Explorer....
It is not necessary to have IE set as the default Web browser and any other browser(s) may be use for accessing the World Wide Web.

I run NAV2003, and have IE5.5 SP2 on my system, but I never run IE. Mozilla 1.5 is my default Browser, and I also have Netscape 7.1 installed.

Here is a site where you can download older versions of IE; however these are huge downloads, considering that you friends uses DUN:
    Index of /pub/microsoft/ie.
Just found out about this site from tranquilo.

You might also look into AVG AntiVirus Program, which is freeware:

    HTH,

Thank you Ramona for the references. I have suggested she consult with her ISP as they are the ones who want her to use Netscape.
