    With our Mac's IE5 there is a icon on the menu bar named Auto Fill. When clicked it fills in all the regular asked for data all at once.

    I can't find out how to do this w/XP Home's IE6. I have to manually select from the drop down options for each field. Real pain.

    Is there a way to do what I want with XP Home?

    Thanks, Kerry

    There is no menu bar that you can click on but you can use Auto Complete to help fill out forms if you have this selected in your options.

    To do this; open Internet Explorer, click on Tools, Internent Options, click on the Content tab and then click on AutoComplete. Select those items that you want by placing a checkmark in them, then click on OK to close AutoComplete and OK to close Internet Options.

    There are freeware & shareware programs available that will assist in filling out forms, though I don't use any myself so I'm unable to make a recommendation.

    Hope this helps.:)

    Hi Rod:

    I have all autocomplete items checked.

    Perhaps I didn't word my query correctly.

    I'm looking for a way to have all usual items in, say, a registration form, filled out automatically, all at once, without having to manually select from a drop down menu for each field. For example: First name, last name, address, town, zip, state, country etc.

    You'll need a 3rd party app.

    You described what you were trying to accomplish just fine in your first post, the problem is there is no way to do this automatically with Windows or Internet Explorer. Apparently the folks at Microsoft wanted to leave something for Freeware & Shareware writers to work on, Ha!

    As I said in my first post, there are many freeware and shareware programs that integrate with IE that will allow you to accomplish this. The following links are to a couple programs I found that I thought you might want to take a look at;

    Thanks Kevin and Rod,

    I'm trying your apps Rod. The zdnet one looks very promising.

    Thanks so much.

    You can use a program named Gator, that does this specifically, but I would NOT recomend this!

    Basically this is a warning to be carefull with freeware programs that can store your private info, such as your name, address, phone, email, and even your credit cards!

    Gator is a "spyware" program that is know to create mass mailing list, so beware of these freeware programs although convient.

    Hi Rod:

    Great appreciation for turning me on to RoboForm. I'm so pleased.

    I'm a little paranoid what with all the passwords and data I've entered to be used to fill in various forms, but I've not read anything deleterious about it as I have about Gator.

    Thanks, again,

    Kerry

    You're welcome, glad to see you were able to find something that fit your need. You've every right to be paranoid about using shareware and freeware, especially those types of program in which you enter passwords, personal information, etc.

    Many freeware programs, but certainly not all, are pretty up front about this and will tell you during the install process whether or not they are are ad supported and if they are what type of information they collect and send. Those that do bother to warn you about this also normally allow you to elect out of the install. Though Gator does explain that they are ad supported during the install I couldn't believe how intrusive the software seemed to be or the number of locations on my system it wrote to, or the amount of files that it installed on to my hard drive.

    I highly recommend that anyone who downloads and installs programs on their system make it a priority to first obtain a free copy of Ad-Aware. Ad-Aware scans your hard drive looking for ad supported software and then gives you the option of removing these from your drive. You can download a copy of Ad-Aware at the following link;
