    Hello,
I have a friend that has blocked so many people that the list is so long to even try to go through. She inadvertently must have blocked some her friends also as their messages end up in her deleted items folder.

She would like to delete all the blocked senders and start al over but it seems as though she can only do it one at a time. She wants to "select all" and then remove at one time.

Do you know if there is a way to get rid of all the blocked senders at once.

    Thank you.

    Jean

I know you can get rid of the blocked sender by clicking one at a time. How do you get rid of all of the blockers senders immediately, not one at a time.

    Thanks for your help.

    1. There isn't any way to select more than one entry at a time to remove.
    2. The blocked senders list is kept in the registry so there's not an ordinary file to delete or edit to empty the list.

So, thinking that if there was a way to back up that list, doing that in a sort of sideways manner (as opposed to reverse), the list could get emptied all at once.

Here's how to back up the blocked senders list:
    1. Click Start, and then click Run.
    2. In the Open box, type regedit, and then click OK.
    3. Locate and click the following registry subkeys (save each key to a different file):
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Identities\{Identity Number}\Software\Microsoft\Outlook Express\5.0\Block Senders
    4. On the Registry menu, click Export Registry File.
    5. In the Save In box, change the location to your desktop.
    6. In the File Name box, type blocked senders.reg (for the Block Senders key), and then click Save.

Sooo....if you export that registry key (so you can restore it if necessary), then delete it, then open OE, it might rebuild a new registry entry with an empty list....or it might not open at all. In that case, you just restore the key you saved.

Then you go into the blocked senders list, and with one hand on the mouse and the other on the Enter key, click Remove, press Enter, click Remove, press Enter...until the list is empty. ;)

At the moment, I have no "Blocked Senders" in my OE list to try this out on, but doesn't control A (select all) highlight all the choices? I seem to remember deleting "sent items" this way, too.

BTW, since there is a cap for "blocked senders ", if the user is trying to reduce spam, there are serveral different programs to do this- some free, some not. Blocked Senders was not designed to be a spam filter.

I just checked...put a bunch of bogus entries in OE's blocked senders list and tried everything...shift/select/ Ctrl/A to select all, Ctrl/click to select. None of them work. So it's a matter of deleting them one at a time or figure out how to edit the registry.

Given the potential for disaster in poking around in the registry, I'd go for the deleting-one-at-a-time approach.

Thanks for everyone's help. I really don't want to edit the registry so we will remove them one at a time. I don't understand shy my friend has so many that is being blocked but you are correct, she needs a spam blocking software. I'll talk to her about this.

Thanks for all your help. I am also surprised that Cntl A will not select them all but I guess that is how it is.
