I just recently built a new computer and installed WinXP. So far, things are good, but something strange that I can't figure out. I have two user accounts with XP, one for myself and one for my g/f. It seems that XP keeps everything seperate including Outlook Express. Yes, sometimes when I check my email, I will pick up one of her emails, and vice versa.

I've checked in the account settings with Outlook Explorer and it only lists my emails, but somehow checks hers too. Likewise, with her Outlook Express, it'll sometimes check my email. But not always.

Please help. I'm not the best at computers so please walk me through the fix. Many thanks in advance.

In Outlook Express (OE)under tools~accounts~properties, untick the block for Include this account .......

It does mean that rather than clicking on the big Send/Receive button you'll need to click the little down arrow to the right of it and select the account you want when you want to manually check for new email.

    UPDATE

After some more investigation, I seem to have found a possibility to my problem. My g/f and myself have numerous email accounts. We have four accounts with our ISP, and 3 accounts with a web based email that allows POP server checking.

I sent 'test' emails to all of our email addys and found that only the email addys from our ISP are having problems being sorted by OE and XP. Our web based addys (she has one, I have two) have sorted correctly every time. So, I'm thinking of callnig my ISP later today to perhaps learn more about what I can do. But if that helps anybody in here figure my problem, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks in advance. Great board. I've been reading through and already found a few things that helped my new computer out. Thanks!

    UPDATE!! FIXED!!!

OK, I finally called the ISP and they said the email addys were aliased so there was no way for express to know the difference.

So, what I did as a simple fix, I set up an email rule with OE. For my emails, I told OE to bounce any emails from her emails back to the server so her side of OE can catch it. And vice-versa with her email account to mine.

So.. there's the fix. Cheap but it works. Thanks again.
