Hi, I have a GMD-P57SAX ver 1 MOBO and I would like to fit an AMD K6 550 onto it but I cannot find any jumper settings for this speed. I have found the spec sites for this MOBO but the speeds do not go this high. I read some where that the company who manufactured this board has gone out of business so there may be no updates for this board.
Dose any one know about this or is it even possible to fit this speed CPU.

    Neil,

By chance are you refering to this board - GMB-P57SAX version 1?

A board's ability to support a CPU relies (along with other factors) upon the ability for it to provide the bus speed, multiplier and voltage settings for the cpu to run correctly.

    The K62 - 550 required a multipler of 5.5x and a 100Mhz bus speed along with a core voltage of 2.3v.

While your K62-550 will fit in the motherboard socket, if the board is not capable of providing these requirements it is unlikely you will get this processor to work.

    Regards,

    ICE
