Uninstall Intellipoint

I wonder if any one can help me,
I decided to update my MS Intelli Mouse from V3 to V5, because I kept on getting a message that the version was out of date.
so I downloaded the new version, & saved it.
When I tried to install the new version I get the following message.

"Error 0X80040702 failed to load dll uninstall. Setup will now terminate "

I have tried control panel> uninstall proggrams to no avail, ( I get the same message,
Then I used Regedit & deleleted a ref. to MS intellimouse 3. then rebooted, but I still get this message.
Has any one any ideas.

It may well be a Windows drama rather than a hardware one.

Me...I'd try reinstalling Version 3, then uninstall it, then see if V5 would install.

Also suggest checking that version 5 is OK for your mouse you are using.
