Ya'll have helped me SO much in fixing my problems and I hope you can help on this one. I can't get Microsoft FrontPage 98 to download now that I upgraded to Windows XP Home from Windows 98SE. I have a HP XL776 computer with plenty of everything space wise. I get a message that says there is a newer version of the server extensions on my machine and I should configure these extensions by using Server Extensions Administrator or Internet Service Manager. I can't seem to find anything on Microsoft's site about this and don't want to upgrade to FrontPage 2000.

Have you tried a custom install without the Server Extensions?

    FrontPage 98

Hello Pete and thank you for your reply. When I put the disk in, it does open and gives you 4 options as to what to install....FrontPage98, Microsoft Image Composer, IE and Exit. When you point the mouse at the one you want, it highlights and the disk "whirrrs" but then nothing happens. I still have the folder from having had the program before but when I try to click on the install option that's when I get the message that I told about in my first posting.

    Problem Solved!!

I solved the problem of my download problem and wanted to share. I got out my handy-dandy 1000+ page book on Windows XP and read about "old" 16 bit programs. So I went to Control Panel, Display and Settings. I changed from 32 bit to 16 bit and was able to install the old version FrontPage 98. After installation I then changed back to 32 bit and everything seems to be working great!!:D

Thanks for posting back with your solution - I was researching your problem as you posted.

I am amazed that changing the colour depth from 32 bit to 16 bit solved the problem - this has absolutely nothing to do with 16 bit and 32 bit programs.

Anyway it worked and that's the important bit.
