I've succeeded in making 7.n my default mail app. I'm wondering how (if?) I can move my 'inbox' & 'sent' from my 4.7 user profile to an equivalent space in 7?

    Hi Bob,

Yes, you most certainly can do that, and here's how:

Copy Mail files without the SNM extension from the 4.7 Mail folder to the Netscape 7 Mail Account folder.
    C:\WINDOWS\Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles\profilename\*.slt\Mail\MailAccount

Caution: these files will replace any existing files in the Netscape 7 mail account folder. You will first want to rename the Communicator 4.7 Mail files; e.g., change Inbox to OldInbox, etc. The renamed files will appear in the Netscape 7 Mail. This will ensure that you lose no existing mail.

Let us know if you have further questions.

    Many Thanks, Ramona, but ...

... I should have told you I'm in a Win2K box: no "Windows" folder, just "WINNT ". Can you tell me where to copy OLDINBOX in this case?
    Regards,
    H.

    I can do that:
    C:\Winnt\Profiles\user_name\Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles\profilename\xxxxxxxx.slt\Mail\mailaccount

Let us know if you have further questions.

Thank you Tranquilo; alas, Ramona, it may be that someone has steered you wrong with respect to Win2k: T. is correct, with the old mail finally in "Local Folders" as "Oldinbox" etc. But thanks for the warning about renaming: I probably would have overlooked that.

Once you make a new account, your new inbox will be in the account_name directory by default, rather than the local folders directory.

    Hi huitre,

Yup, tranquilo is definitely correct. I saw the WINNT, and giving you that info, rather than W2K...

Like he said, put that renamed Inbox into the Mail Account name folder, and you'll be back in business.
