    Shadowhawk,
I like to burn custom audio cds, too. But, to get the MP3 files, you have to rip them from your "real" cds. XP tends to call them "track one" track two" etc and you wind up with MP3s that you have to manually rename, one at a time. Then you open WE again and they are all in alphabetical order, not like the way the album should go. That's why I used easy CD, and use MMJB, now. I usually burn 8 cds or so of MP3s (in data form) after I've ripped them, because it's faster to put them back on the hd than to rip each cd individually again. For straight data cds, XP does very well. For MP3s, I'm not impressed. JMO.

I had the same problems with alphabetizing so I modified the original title:

    01-Whats it all about
    02 Hi all
    03 Shirleys problem\
    04 Bob's a jerk

    etc etc

Now they are in the same order as the original

    Shadowhawk,
No XP doesn't include packet writing. Guess MS tried not to step on too many toes ;)

Tenbob... **** happens I guess. I find Easy CD Creator 5 rock solid at v5.3.5 and DirectCD (unlike InCD 4x) works a treat. Some of us just have bad luck with some hardware/software combinations. Unfortunately it happens with the myriad of combinations available out there. You don't suppose there was any ulterior motive for Roxio suggesting you upgrade to EZCDC6 do you :D
I guess that's why the MAC community crows so load about how most (not all though!) of their hardware and software just works. I personally like the choice and challenges of windows :D

re roxio vs nero in xp

Hi I have been reading your posts and would like to contribute.I updated my roxio to version 5.35 as paul has suggested, the update includes an april issue so is relatively up to date.Take two is automatically uninstalled with this update(assuming you had it installed in the first place.I personally do not like nero and prefer roxio formerly known as easy cd creator and have had tremendous problems between nero and roxio until I obtained the update.Since then roxio runs very well. The update resolves the known issues that roxio had with xp.

I think the problem I am having results from the fact that I don't have a standard CD or CDRW. The first is a DVD/CD player and the second is a DVD/CD writer. I would like to hear from someone with that combination and EZ6.

I've used XP Pro since Jan 02 on maybe a dozen different full installations. I used to be able to get easy cd Creator to work, (with the updates) but now, I can't. Everytime I try to install it- it messes up something else. I don't know what changed (same comp, same software, hardware) but somewhere along the line easy cd became "Enemy XP" I have version 5, but it ain't on here now! If I could figure it out, it would be- because MMJB is a pita compared to easy cd. I do not have a dvd. So if anyone has any bright ideas, I'd love to hear them.

re roxio vs nero in xp

Hi Joanna,Have you tried roxio version 6?If not it might be worth a try.My big headache was that when I put a disk in my rom drive sometimes nero would pick it up and sometimes easy cd would-very annoying! As I said previously only the night before last I updated to version 5.35 which removes take two (which might just be causing your problem as roxio state it was intended for win 95/98 not xp) and the 5.35 update resolves all known problems with xp.It is quite a large file 18mb but it seems to have sorted my problems out.I also got a small file which added a dvd creator to the cd utilities interface which brings it up to date.If you have not tried this give it or 6 a go,you never know. You have my total sympathy as I know only too well the problems easy cd can give.Regards pc fanatic.

I never installed Take Two, and I had both updates from the Roxio site. Considered updating to 6 (more money!) but haven't found a reason to justify it yet, other than the convenience of that particular software. Everything I do, I can do another way with MMJB, Nero and XP. Might do it someday, if I get bored enough! :D

I agree I was happy with EZ-5 but then it did not see my new DVD/CD/RW drives so I had to upgrade
