    To Newt
what does your line "keep bbs on the bbs , i delete e-mail unread" mean
I understand keeping BBS on BBS, but the part about deleting e-mails confuses me?
Why can't i "copy & Paste" that part of your message to here ?
What is FE that you referred to??

my 98SE 'puter has Word, Excel,PowerPoint and other programs which i can not put in here, mostly because the software is "missing "

What does that mean? If the programs are installed on your 98, you have them, right? You can put them on XP, if you want.

MY thinking from the above and seeing the word Compaq in a prevous reply.

That items mentions may have been on the machine at purchase and had no CDs.

Or as in my case. I do in fact have the CDs for certain programs that are not working properly at the moment but where they are is unknown at this time.

There is no place in this Compaq 2200 to attach/install a network card~ a knowedgeable technician took the cover off and laughed...
    i actually have 98SE.
This "puter and my wife's are actually networked on DSL. our ISP Bellsouth allows 1200 min. per month(avg. 40 min. per day ) dial~up for 'emergencies "
