My spacebar key is stuck._I'll buy a new keyboard for < $10, but stores are closed today. I can temporarily live with hitting Alt+255, but would rather assign the job to a single key, the `key (the one below Esc).

I used to do things like this all the time under DOS, but have forgotten how.

    XP Home, 104 key board.

You should be able to carefully lever off the key if it is standard keyboard and remove the item that's jamming it (it might be still edible :) ), worth a try if you are going to dump it anyway.

Have a look in Help > Accessibilities.

The last time I removed a key, the underlying spring flew up into the air, and disappeared from sight. Luckily, it was an 84-key junker that I was about to throw out anyway.

My current 104-key board works perfectly, except for the pain of using Alt+255 for spaces. But, until I'm able to get to the store, doesn't anybody know the secret of key reassignment?
