Need a Video Player, Not WMP

Hello All,
After getting tired of MS WMP 7.1 always connecting to the net on every click of a new .mp3 or .mpg, I uninstalled it, used Norton's to help clean up the registry (what a mess). Downloaded Winamp 2.7.8 for my audio needs, now I need a video player that doesn't have a the fluffy ****, like spyware and "helper" apps with it, preferably freeware.

Is there anything I should know about uninstalling WMP 7.1 & Installing Winamp?

Any Suggestions Would Be Great & Thank You.

Is there a problem with using a previous version of WMP such as Ver. 6.4? I don't particularly care for the newer versions of WMP either. I have not experienced any difficulities in using 6.4 and WinAmp on my system. My WMP is set up to handle video requirements and WinAmp my audio requirements. WinAmp provides various setup options that may be easily changed at any time. You may wish to disable the WinAmp Agent feature under setup to prevent any unwanted internet activity.
