    I am now getting the following message every time I turn my computer on.

    Error Starting Program

    A required .DLL file, MSVCP60.DLL was not found.

    I click OK and it leaves the screen.

    What do I do about it?

    Thanks for the help I have been receiving here because my computer knowledge is next to nil.

    Hi Ovenmitt,

    You can get that dll here . I believe it should be in the C:\Windows\system folder. Thats where mine is.

    Something here may help:
    http://www.generation.net/~hleboeuf/ermsvcrt.htm#ERRMSVCP60

    What did you do prior to problem? Install something?

    ========
    Got office 2000,
    Rename it and do an office repair.

    =====
    Opps,
    You do know how to do a "file find" and have already set your folder view options so you can find "system and hidden files" haven't you?

    If not and you need the instructions, just give a shout. :D

    =========
    As your relatively "new to board" and may not be aware of this:

    By the way how are your other problems coming along? It is the board custom to end a post with the final outcome whether it is good or bad. This is not required but sure is appreciated in big way.

    Metaphorically speaking....don't leave your book with the last page torn out of it. I just hate that when it happens, don't you? :D

    error message

    Hello Ann

    Thanks for you advice.... when back and did a post.

    Yes, I know how to find a file from the start menu but as for setting the options as you suggested.... No, I have not done that and do not know how.

    Your help would be appreciated.

    Hope these problems go away soon :(

    Here's what you do to make sure you can find those hidden files when you do a search:
    Before doing a "File Find" [key F3 shortcut for file search popup]:

    Make sure you have the ability to view hidden files by adjusting preference options in....
    1>Click on My Computer icon or if in explorer>toolbar>view
    2>click on toolbars "View" category
    3>click on "Folder options "
    4>click on "View" Tab:
    5>and scroll to the [Hidden Files] section and enable or disable the options below by unchecking or checking as designated:
    "Do Not show hidden files "=unchecked
    "Do not show hidden or system folders "=unchecked
    "Show all Files "= checked
    "hide file extensions for known files "=unchecked

    A Reboot may be required for the change to take effect.

    Ann,

    I appreciate that F3 tip. Does it work on all OS's or just 98? Also, I have changed the folder view on numerous occasions and every MS OS after Windows 3.1 ( and yes, I realise that was not an OS, but you get the point) and never had to restart, so one should not be necessary

    Hi Ryder,
    F3, for a file search, has always worked for as long as I can remember using it, at least through the WIndows- 95's-XP. Don't recall Dos/win3.x. [ginko-biloba...ginko-biloba]

    As for the advice to reboot, I always include this step as a matter of course, when suggesting something, that may require a registry change. I never count on Windows doing or acting as it should. I have seen to many setting/option changes, that should have been imediate, take a reboot or two on others computers.

    It's also a safety for myself. It saves me from frogetting to put this step in for those changes that do a reboot or two [ginko-biloba....:D]
