Have I been hacked?

    When it try to change/view "tools-internet options" i get "this operation has been canceled due to retrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your administrator. "

    Have i been hacked? this used to work. Yes i am logged in as admin.

    This may be caused by an immunization by one of your anti-spyware programs.

    It creates this registry key:

    hkey_current_user/software/policies/microsoft/internet explorer/restrictions/NoBrowserOptions

    Find it in the registry and delete it.

    Thanks for given me back some control!!
    Now if this ie was only faster!!!! Seens like it keeps getting slow and slowwer! My box is a duel amd 2800+ with 2g of ram. Why bo i sit and wait on my cable connection? Seems to take 5-10 sec. to paint the smallest site!!!

    Download and run CWShredder (link's near the bottom of the page).

    Neither Spybot nor AdAware is completely effective in getting rid of it and one of the symptoms of its presence is "massive system slowdown," which you seem to be experiencing.

    The easier way (I think it's easier, anyway), gain access to IE's options is to open Spybot (if installed), go to the Immunize section, scroll to the bottom of the right-hand pane and uncheck the references to Internet Explorer there. ;)

    OK Now were getting somewhere!! One more problem thats been realy bug'n me! Every once in a while. Mostly after I email someone. I see a new Icon on my desktop. With a ~ as the caption. It happens on both my XP and my W2K mach.
    Any idea's on this one???
