I have no audio. Simply, I have no sound what so ever from my speakers. I've checked all the physical plug ins. I reinstalled my Creative Sound Blaster drivers after removing them. I've done a couple of different System restores from earlier dates. I'm not even gettin a hissing sound out of the speakers when I turn up the volume. I'm here now because I've run out of things I can think of to do. When I look in Control Panel under Sound Devices everything says, "This device is working properly ". Please, any suggestions will help. Thanks in advance

Do you have an Internal Modem ?

They will ( from experience ) raise Hello with Audio due to a POSSIBELE hardware ( IRQ ) conflict.

Yup. All indications except no sound will say all is well.

ANd do not expect to see any conflicts in the Device Manager because 99% of the time they do not show.

Speakers haven't been mistakenly plugged into the microphone jack?
If you turn the sound down low and remove and reseat the jack you should hear some crackling.

Did the same driver replacement one time, only to find the jack had been dislodged slightly.

Maybe powered speakers not getting power from power source??
On speaker switch turned on? Led lit? Power plug at speaker loose?

Ok, I'm an idiot. My wife walks into my office after I give her my big sob story about no audio. She checks the surge protector where the speakers are plugged in. she pulls out the plug and puts it back in and... Wha laaa, they work!

Thanks for the help all. I can't believe how much trouble shooting I did for this when it was simply the plug in. I guess I should remember that there's nothing worse than ignorance with confidence. lol

You are not alone ( or the first ) my Friend.

How about No Audio. No Internet. No Network. No Printer.

Gee Whiz. They all worked yesterday.

Like yourself I did everytning I could think of and still no audio. The speakers were plugged into the wrong Surge Protecter. ( have been moved since ) The other items were there also.

Never gave even a thought to checking for GREEN lights.

The two SPs were side by side ( no longer ) and somebody had shut the wrong one off.

I HATE it but a 7 ( seven ) year old NIECE found the problem.

Two new troubleshooting methods I have added to my list: cry to wife; ask 7 year old.
(mmm...7 year old is less scarey, will try that first)

    :D :D

Steveone, if you had read my post, you could have beat your wife to it.

It's not that I'm an expert or anything like that, it is a lesson I learned from my son.

When my truck wouldn't start, I went through the ignition, the carbureator, checked everything, could not find cause. Called my son, he came over, checked everything too, couldn't find anything wrong, and he is a mechanic.

Then he said to me: "have you checked the gauges?" So, I took a look. Darn thing was out of gas.

Easy lesson, look for the simplest solution first. Hard part, what is the simplest solution?
