I loaded some shareware "EZ Photo Calendar" and discovered that there is no evidence of the program on the computer other than the Icon on the desktop. The properties of the shortcut path are empty, the search of the registry provides no clue it's there and a view of the tree with "show all files" shows not the first trace of the program. Just in case I made a navigation error I've looked in the drive root, root of "Program files" and anywhere else I could think of but no program. It runs so it's loaded but how are they able to hide it so effectively?

Most likely it is installed under another name - right click the icon on the desktop > Properties for the path.

That was one of the first things I tried (as mentioned in my first post) the path shown for the shortcut is empty. I don't have but a few apps on this partition so I'd recognize something out of the ordinary. This one is a mystery.

Not yet. Perhaps registering the program runs an aplet to reveal the folders once it's yours. I recall that Intuit does some tricks like that with their Quicken and Tax software.

Yup. That's my guess. At $7 US (roughly) if it's any good, should be well worth paying for.

Do you have a folder named photocalendar in c:\ "Program Files ". That's where it is.

Got curious and downloaded it myself just to see what happens. I hope this was the shareware from SpectrumSoftware.

The executable is called photocalendar.exe and has a fox icon.

I never could resist a good mystery. This one kinda' fizzled out, though.

The only mystery here, is why jefferyclay missed the program folder?...:D
