    Hi snookie28.

I also once had an unwanted toolbar that also added icons to the dektop AND start menu that was a real bear to get rid of. I ended up tooling around in the registry. That was before I got RegSeeker , which makes it easier. Use the 'search registry' feature to locate references to the pesky osgstdsscho..... and delete them. Make sure 'backup' is checked in the lower left corner just in case! I would also update and run spybot and adaware before and after.

    What error are you getting?

a little box that microsoft brings up saying error...will have to close...do you want to send error report to microsoft....yes or no and whatever you click, It then closes the whole program. I have msn also and have no problem In there so It has to do with the Internet exp. site. Would scanreg/restore help? Thanks for answering...

Scanreg/restore the way I understand it (haven't had to use it yet- knock on wood) backs up once per calender day, and unless you increase the default settings, will only go back 5 days.

Is there a 'details' button to click on the error box?

    error message

Hi Dave, I had to go Into msn to reply to you because when I tried to open windows BBS In Internet explorer... to read your response, the same window came up... "Internet Explorer encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the Inconvenience." Then you click on send error report or not and close and that's all she wrote...gone!!

Try opening IE and pasting this link in

    http://www.doxdesk.com/parasite/

    eliminate whatever it finds.

Did you update and run spybot and adaware?
    RegSeeker?
Delete temp. internet files, clear cookies?

All may be well after getting rid of the junk.

    "error message "

    Hello Dave,
No luck....I always have my virius def. updated...run Norton every night while I sleep and see It on the screen when I get up...everything Is fine there. Maybe I should re-Install Internet Exp. again...think that would work since there seems to be things missing?

    unwanted.....EVERYTHING!!!

    Hello Dave,
I tried the scan and says no "bugs." I keep getting the box "runner Error....Invalad Backweb app. Id "1370903." I still have "msssswqstas "...two of them In my top address bar and still have the blue search bar still poping up.....and when I still go to other programs.....I get shut out. All this started when I took out things that the spy programs said was a threat......now my computer won't run right. It's only happening In Interner Explorer...should I take It out In the Add/remove prog., and Install It again? This went from bad to worse.

    snookie28 & others:

I too had same as you say: = "a little box that microsoft brings up saying error...will have to close...do you want to send error report to microsoft....yes or no and whatever you click, It then closes the whole program. "

I only noticed this happening to me since last week.
It happens when i am searching with IE as suddenly this window pops up like you said. You have to click it to get it off as you have no choice, and then yes your IE closes...
It seemed to me to be something to do with pages needing Flash but i am not sure?? as i ought to be up to date with all...

On the so-called 'error report' box i clicked and read the details, yet i do not know what it means in regard to an error that is supposedly happening...

It happened to me 3x in one week. First time i said no in regard to sending a report. The second time i said yes and it scared me. Third time i said no again as i am not sure this is really a box from Microsoft even?

I really want to know if there is an answer from Microsoft on this, as i have to do more searching asap. Thanks....

    snookie28,
A repair to IE 'might' be in order, but first you will need to get rid of the offending toolbar, as it will most likely still be there after a repair since it should have it's own registry entries, and repairing may not be necessary after cleaning up. Following are recommendations/instructions given many times in this BBS by mflynn for various programs.

    Spyware and adware removal

    SpyBot http://security.kolla.de/index.php?...p;page=download
Run this twice delete all it finds, "ALWAYS" run this before AdAware.
Leave all it wants to leave after the second run.

    AdAware 6.0 http://www.lavasoft.com
    Run only after SpyBot!
Make sure to configure to Max settings, all files and compressed files.Delete all it finds

    BHO Demon http://www.definitivesolutions.com/bhodemon.htm
A BHO is like a autostart/startup that only runs when you run the Browser.
This program runs stand alone no install is required post me the items it finds other than the below. Normal entries here would be Acro….. (Acrobat Reader) or Nav…. (Norton Anti virus).

    RegSeeker recommendation.

Might be a good idea to act on PeteC's advice and download\run Hijack This , then paste results here so more experienced person's might offer some input.

    crystalwoman,

There are numerous threads pertaining to 'IE error........will have to close', and the causes are more numerous. Post the details of your error message.....someone may be familiar with it and can help, or at least steer you to help.

    restore

    Hello,
Restore worked for me but you can only go back so far with it. It's In start....programs.....accessories....system tools.....system restore and you can pick a date that you know your computer was running right. I had to do that about 4 times...kept telling me there was nothing wrong during the dates that I picked and I finally got one to work. It does give you back some things that you wanted to delete or you accidently got rid of but sometimes you have to take the bad with the good and I'm running good now so we will see what happens.

Snookie28 is running Windows XP, which I didn't realize when she asked about scanreg/restore, that command normally being associated with earlier operating systems.

Did you see the latest patch for IE?

Well i bet my problem for at least this last 4 days was that i will be requiring this latest patch that just showed up today from Microsoft for IE6
-(note reference to it on the homepage of Windows.help.net)-

The description of the symptoms sounds exactly like what was happening to me when i would search and go to a certain website. - that is why i had thought it had to do with Flash like i mentioned in my earlier 'post' here.

I worked on my computer for 4 days trying to figure out was wrong!??! yet once again it was Microsoft needing to patch up a program....

Now if only i could figure out why i cannot do a virus scan online at symantec or with my NAV 2003.
I do not feel i have a virus as i have spam filterering from my ISP for viruses and spam, as well as NAV 2003 is working to protect me.

Microsoft Error msg pop up still happening:

When searching on certain pages on the Internet, the Microsoft Internet Explorer Error Signature message still pops up and it says:

Miscrosoft Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close.

    It shows:
    Mod Name: dxtrans.dll

You cannot do anything more on your search, except click
Send Error Report or Dont Send on the Error pop up.

    HELP!

    restore

    Hello,
I did fix my problem by going Into restore and after 4 different tries...my computer restored my files to a date when I was not having any problems with that window coming up. I believe I actually deleted something from my back web when I was trying to get rid of that silly unwanted tool bar because that's when I started having that problem so I believe It was because a file was missing and by going back....that did the trick.....everything Is fine now!!:D :D :D
