I've got a new laptop and now need to move my old profiles from one machine to the other. I've been trying to find information on the web to help here, but they all reference executing "upgrades ". I'm in a Windows 2000 Professional environment and have Netscape 7.1 loaded on both machines.

I may have already messed up the profiles on the new machine by copying the mozella C:\Documents and Settings\â€usernameâ€\Application Data\Mozilla folder to my new machine.

Can someone please help? I’ve wasted way too much time on this already.

    Thanks in advance.

    Welcome to the Forum, eemiii!

    Hi Ernie,

If you're moving the same Profile from Desktop to Laptop, and running the same OS on both PC's , then do this:

On the Desktop, open Windows Explorer and navigate to:
    C:\Documents and Settings\user_name\Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles
    Backup the Profiles Folder
Next: copy the profilename folder, i.e.,
    C:\Documents and Settings\user_name\Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles\profilename

On the Laptop, open Windows Explorer and navigate to:
    C:\Documents and Settings\user_name\Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles\profilename
    Remove the existing profilename folder
Paste in the profilename folder from the Desktop

When you open Netscape, check the Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings | Server Settings | Local directory
Ensure that the path to the Mail Account Folder is correct.

Let us know if you have further questions.

    Ramona :D
