Can anyone out there suggest some free/cheap back-up software? I'm looking to back-up my documents folder as well as other system settings. I would prefer to back-up to CD-R/RW if possible.

You could take a look at Karen's Replicator - backs up (replicates) whatever files you want on whatever schedule you want to wherever you want - but not sure about CD-RW direct, but you can always burn later.

I use it to back up my data to a separate drive twice per day.

    Freeware.

If you are using 2000 or presumably XP (i dont have an XP box to hand to check) there is Microsofts own backup program available to you. You can find it in: Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Backup

It won't burn straight to CD-RW but there is no reason you could not burn it afterwards.

XXCOPY is worth a gander and here's a tutorial (note the section "XXCOPY for Disk Cloning" if using NT, 2K or XP).
