I don't know how it happened but when I boot and sometime at other times, I get a dialog box demanding that I put a CD in one drive or the other. Sometimes I can cancel the message but sometimes I must do it to go further

I know it must have come from some operation I had done but don't know which or how to remedy it

What CD is it asking for? If it's the MS Office CD, there are a couple of fixes.

It's not asking for any specifi CD. I just says that it cannot access the drive because there is no CD there

It is the same message that I might see if I clicked on the drive in Explorer and the drive was empty

Have you tried removing the CD drive through Device Manager and rebooting?

I have the problem with some programs asking for MS Word Disk to install each time I open them. Putting the disk in works fine for the present. Tomorrow it will be the same again, Would you be willing to put the "fix" you referred to on the Board? Would be willing to accept an email.

Hi one & all, I saw this query, & thought Ah Ha, I to have much the same problem.
Mine appears seemingly at random, & it do'es not ask for a specific disk, I just click the X in the top rh corner & it goes away.
I should mention I do not have office on my Computor, only MS works.
This problem started after I got infected with the "Downloader virus ", this caused no end of trouble, But its gone now,
I have been left though without any spellchecker in any proggram
Don't know if it helps, or just muddys the waters

My new computer has DVD/CD and DVD/CD RW so I had to upgrade my EZCreator 5 to 6 to get the proper drivers. That is when that problem began. As soon as I removed EZ-6 the problem went away.
I am now using NTI as a CD app since it came with the computer and it is doing a good job on CDs I have not tried writing to DVDs yet

Thanks for the reply, I use Roxio Easy CD & DVD Creator 6. having tried Nero. I have the feeling one should not have to "go back" when its just a matter of finding out which Dll is missing or corrupted
