This question is conserning internet connection share. I have two computers, and i use internet connection share to access a wireless internet connection through a cross over network. the problem is that the second computer has problem accessing some website. Websites like Ebay will not load at all, and time out. Others take a long time. I connect at DSL speeds. What should i do?

I had this problem when I first setup my home network. Sites included eBay, my bank, and any other secure website ( I think MSN Hotmail as well). It seems the the TCP "handshaking" on the internet-PC sets a "don't fragment" flag, preventing website servers splitting up packets. Some website servers are badly setup and insist on sending large (1500-byte) packets. These have a small header added to pass through the internal network, and of course, they can't since the maximum allowed is 1500 bytes.

I got round the problem by changing the MTU (maximum packet size) on the client PC's. There's only one registry value to change/add, but this is not a dead simple job, as the registry key involved depends on your hardware. I can "talk you though" it if you want to proceed.
