windows 98 startup

    when i turn on my comp it says while initializing device ptvcd: windows protection error. you need to restart computer.

    why is this doing this and how can i fix it????????

    If I remember correctly that requires a re-install of the OS.

    And also I believe it has to be done from a complete shut down bootup directly to a FLOPPY up and not going to the HD first.

    Huh Oh.

    I just looked at the error.

    it says while initializing device ptvcd

    I did not pay attention to the fact of there being a device error.
