Hi All. Supposedly you are able to choose the drive and/or partition for storage of files waiting to be written to DVD or CD. The default is "C ", not much room on this partition in my machine.

Windows Help File tells me to go to drive's properties and click the "recording" tab as step one to make this choice. Neither my DVD or CD properties tab leads me to a "recording" tab. I do have Pinnacle's "Instant Write" installed for fomatting CD's. Could that be what's happened to my "recording" tab?

Hey Pete, thanks for the info. Please note that the Helpnet site link takes you to the old TweakUI version 2.00.1 I was able to get the new version 2.10.0.0 from Microsoft download site.

I did the tweaks, have not tried recording yet.

    Thanks again:

    Martin

Pete: that is strange, a link that takes me one place and you to another???

Par for the course if I'm involved!!! Seems everything I do on these machines turns out to be strange.

I did the tweak to store temp image for CD burning on my "D" drive, but, I have looked At every file on "C" and "D" and can't find stored images or empty file where they might have been stored.

I was looking because I keep getting pop up balloon saying "you have files waiting to be written to cd. To see these files click this balloon." I get the message intermittantly while running, then on every boot.

When I click the balloon, if blank CD in drive, CD opens to blank page, nothing else.

When no CD in drive, Windows happily tells me that. So, I was trying to find where these apparently non existant files might be hiding.

Nowhere in documents and settings, My Docs, Shared files, nowhere on "C "

*.tmp search yeilds a bunch of files that I can't open. Deleted them all, still get pop up.

    Again, par for the course.

    Martin

    Martin,

See 'here - under c= 'cd - files ready to be written to the CD' for details of the storage location, etc. Store must be a folder, not a drive.

IMO - if you have some burning software which accompanied your CD-RW you would be better off using that and disable the native burning software in XP.
