    I am using Win98SE.
When I right-click the Start button in system tray, I get a drop-up menu that contains: Open, Explore, Find, and Scan with Norton Antivirus.
Problem: Open and Explore are Grayed-Out...can click on either one.
How can I activate these two options?

Got "tweakui "? If so, this can be fixed by the "My Computer Tab" in said same.

Make sure all your letters [possible drives] got a check.

Never mind. Ann beat me to it. Seems to me she used to do this to me a lot. :)

If you haven't got tweakui then use the following:

    -------------------------------------
    REGEDIT4

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer]
    "NoDrives "=-

    -------------------------------------

Save the above as ResetNoDrives.reg, or whatever, and execute. The above is equivalent to "NoDrives "=hex:00,00,00,00 which is the system default.

It may be worthwhile to examine the current value, and make a note, using regedit - I'd be interested in what it is.

PS The [HKEY... above should be one line.

I don't understand. I have TweakUI, My Computer Tab selected and the drives I have are checked: A,C,D, M.
Where do I go to enable the two items I have asked about?

Although you don't have a B drive, I guess, if that is not selected then you'll lose the two items. You'll need to restart after editing tweakui.

Actually, I did have B checked. In fact, A,B,C,D,E, and M are checked. So...where do we go from here??

OK. Go back to tweakui and check all drives.

    That should do it.

BTW for Win98SE we should use Tweakui version 1.25.0. This is one app whose revisions are best left alone. It has come in and out of favour at MS almost as often as the seasons. It's history is almost as chequered as RegClean.

Thank U. By checking the "entire alphabet" U have answered my request. Hopefully others with this same problem will benefit from your response.

    Why not!

BTW, had you used my registry script above and gone into Tweakui after a restart you'd have found all drives ticked so users wth the same problem have a solution without Tweakui.
