icons and sound corruption

i have a p3 computer with windows millenium installed.the soundcard is creative ensoniq and the video card is geforce 2mx.Recently the icons started randomly getting corrupted[desktop icons,start bar icons, windows explorer icons] and moreover minimising or maximising windows causes a trail of lines to be left on the screen.Moreover the sound is also corrupted.The graphics problem does not exist on playing 3d games but the sound problem persists.please help. This has been persisting for quite sometime now and reinstalling windows,directx,or the drivers did not help.

Can you tell us a little more? What are your suystem specs? Any hardware changes lately? Have you been in the device manager looking for any yellow exclamation marks?
