    unwanted tool bar

Can anyone help me get rid of an extra tool bar? It Is listed In my drop down list as, osgstdsscho.....never heard of It but It's a pain In the .....every site I go Into It appears, even when I have It unchecked or checked...makes no differance. I believe I got It when my hubby went Into a music site because there Is also a music tool bar that appears on my desktop when I reboot...nothing on this In the "add/remove prog. either. Any advice to get rid of this thing would be great!!!!! Thanks

First course of action is to run Spybot and AdAware , update their reference files and run Spybot before AdAware.

If this doesn't solve the problem, post back.

If neither of these work download BHO and run that.

If that fails to identify the offending toolbar download HijackThis , run it and copy/paste the log file here for 'expert' comment

    unwanted tool bar

Hello Peter....I think I did It this time...ran spybot and adaware. Any Items that had" search bar "In It, I quarantined. Now the name of that search bar that always appeared In the drop down list Is gone so hopefully It will not keep re-appearing.....thank you!!
Is Spybot suppose to run all the time and be In the lower taskbar? I could not get It to close when I was done with It. I had to use the alt, ctrl, and del to close It. I was going to leave It running but anything I tried to open ran really slow.
    Thanks again....

Spybot does not need to be running all the time - running it manually every one or two weeks should be good enough.

I suspect you have it set up to load at startup - this may be the default setting although it does not on mine.

Go Start > Programs > Spybot > Advanced Mode > Settings > Settings and make sure that none of the boxes under System Start are checked.

You do mean fixed not quarantined two differant things,,
otherwize the toolbar would still be there :)
I wouldnt hurt to also post a hijachtis log,, to cleanup any left overs..Dont fix anything with it..........Becouse most of what it lists is needed and even nessesary.

Hello, I ran spyhunter and It found a few "huntbars" but you have to buy the product to remove them and do they really go away? I ran regseeker and put the word "huntbar" In there and It found 49 of them...Is It safe to delete thoses? My computer...outside of the bar always poping up....works fine now....should I forget It?

    Hi snookie28,

Yes, it's safe to delete them. There's a box in the lower left corner for backing up anything you remove. Just make sure it's checked. I would recommend also doing a system search on all files and folders, including hidden, and getting rid of any found. Some of this junk bundled up in software packages and downloads really embeds itself into the system, and when trying to get rid of it , you have to try and get it all. Glad IE is up and running for you again. :)
