I am sure this has been covered before but I couldn't locate anything in a search.

My OE6 messages have been arriving with the attachments removed by OE as being "unsafe" yet I know they are "safe" and from an expected source. (If they were not wouldn't my NAV take care of them?) I am a newcomer to Outlook Express as my previous email client was Netscape.

Can someone show me how to receive attachments on OE6?

    Many thanks,
    Lochinvar

Open your OE. Go to TOOLS then OPTIONS then SECURITY. From there look down about half way and you will see something about not opening attachments that may be or contain Virus. If there is a check mark there, remove it. This should get you going.

    Thanks, Mudd, that fixed it.

Do you have an opinion on whether to use the 'restricted' setting or 'internet' for mail? I am virus protected? What's the downside?

I personally use the "Restricted" setting for my Email. Don't know why for sure, I just do. I see no problems with that as I have no knowledge of an email ever being denied.

I have Norton AV in my system and have it to scan all email before/during download. By keeping the AV up to date, I feel I'm about as protected as I can be.

Glad the fix helped you out.
