Win2K pro boots to desktop fine and runs Explorer fine and connects to the internet, but when I try to run applications like MSWorks Norton AntiVirus, or even notepad, message comes up saying file cannot be found.
I discovered that if I open a DOS window with "command" in the run line, I can "cd" to the folder and run the program within the DOS window.

Any ideas? The system was compromised with some viruses that I removed with a program called "stinger" by the Mcafee folks

I'd say even though you got rid of virus, it already did its damage, reinstall applications, if doesn't work then I suggest OS deploy.

I found that the virus/worm changed the associations. I ran a association fix script and all programs run now.
