I recently downloaded a program that messed my whole computer up. It was so bad, I had to reinstall win98se. Anyway, now i can't change the resolution on the screen. I can't change to 800 x 600. Everytime I try to do it, it tells me to restart windows for the changes to take effect. It doesn't work. I used a program called spybot search and destroy as well as a current version of Norton antivirus to no avail. I can't figure out what to do. Please help.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi mhart27

You may need to reinstall the driver for your video card.
If you don't have the video driver you can probably
download it from the manufacturers web site.

Not to forget the driver for your monitor. A missing monitor driver gives the problem you describe of being unable to change the display resoluton.

Even after installing the proper drivers - you may also have to change the monitor to a "Plug and Play" from "default monitor" before it will accept the setting changes.

3DFx Voodoo's (Banshee's) were prone to this and a few others.
