but I still need your help...

I tokk the big "plunge" and put in more memory modules and changed the CPU. In order to do this however, I had to DC my 3 1/2" floppy, and now can't get it to work!

It was in the way, so I removed the cable and power cord. Now I have tried and can't get it to work. The power casble only goes on one way, however there are two cables. One is coming from the CD rom and the other is coming from my zip drive. Which one do I use?

The other issue is the ribbon cable. This shows I am clearly an idiot! I have a free end on the cable going to the CD Rom ( I don't think this is the one), and another cable going to the FDC connection on the mobo ( I think this is the one). However, I have tried both cables and can't get it to work. I also turned the cable over, as it goes into the back of the floppy drive both ways. My
CD Rom, HDD and zip drive all have the red stripe on the cable on the same side, so I have don that as well, but no go.

The light on the floppy drive goes on and stays on, I don't think it did that before, only when it was reading. It spins but doesn't work. Any suggestions?

    I got it...

no need for a reply. The cable going to the mobo wasn't pushed in so far, and I think that did it, as it works fine now...thanks!

Well, I thought I got it....

I got the thing working, then shut the whole system down. Turned it back on, and now the power light comes on all the time and it won't read....any ideas? CMOS? BIOS? I didn't change any of that stuff....just unplugged it...

    Now I know I'm a REAL idiot!

when I put the drive back thru the front of the case for installation, I hooked the ribbon cable up backwards!
    It works fine now....
