I have an Intel D845GEBV2 MB
    Yamaha 4416S SCSI
    Yamaha 2200E IDE
    PLEXTOR DVD PX708A IDE (new)
The 2 Yamaha devices were working fine prior to today. I just installed the new Plextor and all was recognized the 1st time I re-booted.
After that only the 2 IDE devices are recognized. The Yamaha 4416S starts up OK (yellow lites/green lites) doors open/closes. Put in a disc and it goes through all and the green lite stops ready to play.
When checking device mgr, isn't there. I am wondering if the MB will only recognized no more than 2 recording devices, although it is SCSI. I have tried to add hardware. Doesn't find it. If the card was bad it wouldn't boot up, would it.

    ANY HELP APPRECIATED

    Thank you

First try removing the SCSI controller in Device Manager, reboot.

Next try disconnecting the drive, do a full boot without it. Reconnect the drive and boot again.

Still no drive, remove the SCSI card and boot without it. Put the card back and try it.

Do a double check of your master/slave settings.

    Matt

PS may want to try another SCSI ID setting for that drive.

    Dear Matt

There was no recognition of a controller card in devices,
by opening up all devices, I found the card and removed it. I followed your step by step approach, until finally I removed the card totally, cleaned the gold contact points with a pencil eraser, learned many years ago, cleaned it up and VIOLA! All is working now.

    Thank you for your help.

Sorry Donabano, seems they have run out of prizes for those solving their own problem :D .

The old eraser trick, eh? :) Good feedback.

***Had a shot at the other one.

    Luck
    Matt
