I lost the use of the epson status monitor when I progressed from win 98 to win xp home.I recently downloaded an xp version of the status monitor from the epson america site. When installed the icon appeared in the start tray and the program opened. It then failed to locate my printer(an epson stylus colour 440 yes I know it,s old now)the status of the ink cartridges was just showing blank diagrams. On the next re boot an error message appeared stating that status monitor had failed to initialize and the program would be terminated.Any suggestions for a cure?regards to all pc fanatic.

If it's the v2.5bE from this page it should work - probably. Read the readme file carefully to make sure there aren't any gotcha's in there.

Try uninstalling it, disconnecting from the internet and disabling your anti virus program, and installing again. Be sure to restart your AV before you connect to the net again.

    re epson status monitor.

Hi Newt,Yes it is the file from that page,I read the readme and you are right it should or might work.I have contacted epson uk as the usa site just gives snail mail addresses. If you mean to disable norton and then re-enable after installation fine I will try that but I do not wish to disable it permanently.I have the v25be on cd at the moment as I uninstalled it after the problems.regards.pcfanatic2.
