ie6 upgrade problem

    I am using win ME.
    After downloading IE6 upgrade (From version5) no
    web pages displayed. So I did the add/remove thing to "repair" ie and it didn't work. I then used add/remove again and reverted to the previous version (5) and it worked ok until I went to windows update and reinstalled 6.
    Now it doesn't work and i can't get it to revert back at all now.
    Any suggestions?
