Okay, I admit it. I have said bad things about HP (Horrible Products), and I have told people to avoid them. I bought a cheap ($89) 3-in-1 inkjet printer, scanner, copier (hp psc 1210) for my home computer, and it is absolutely idiot proof to operate, and very functional. Today, I called on it for a heavy duty print job (2000+ pages) and it has been humming away for four hours, but it hasn't stuttered or faltered. It is about out of ink, but I didn't expect to finish this job without more. As I type this, it is finishing. I am impressed with HP, and owe them an apology.

The Okipage at the church failed this morning. The big laser printer could have done this job in an hour and a half. (I have to run these every three months, so I know!) This 3-in-1 is so simple to use, I think I'll buy one for my Mom. Sorry about all the cracks, HP, but you USED to make really bad stuff.

The true question is: Does the quality of the product negate the need for quality tech support?

I've been using HP products for years.... Love their printers, scanners and fax machines, Hate their computers almost as much as I hate Dell and Gateway (personal opinion).

Never had any problems with tech support for any of their products.

Bought an HP 882c back in 1997 - have had one paper jam in the machine and no other trouble in six years. Other than that it has worked flawlessly in both USB and parallel mode.

I also like HPs scanners, but I'm not so fond of their PCs.

The only real sore spot I ever had about HP was that for the longest time they did not have an 1-800 number for tech support.

    Regards,

    ICE
