    Please help me!!
I am having trouble getting on to any search engines.
I can get into Outlook Express and Yahoo Mail but when I try to go to a site it says that I may have a malicious file.
What can I do to remove this or fix my problem???
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Please make clear suggestions as I am not very proficient in technical terms.

Would you post the message re. malicious file here, please.

I assume you have run a full virus scan with the latest updates to your virus definitions?

May be a good idea to run an online virus scan - go here ....

    No search engines

Yes I have run a virus scan - will try again to connect to House as I couldn't get on before.
The message that comes up is as follows-
Are you looking for a Search Engine?
If you are seeing this page it is because you have downloaded a malicious program that is keeping you from visiting the page you intended.

    LeopardLady,

The link you posted doesn't work, but I have been onto the site and searched for 'malicious' and it came up with some info (but not that post number, which I can't find at all). You most likely have some form of spyware on your m/c, although I would not rule out the possibility of a virus/trojan too, so run the online virus scanner Housecall as soon as you can.
These two posts are of interest :

and this has a suggsted solution :

All a bit technical I fear, but clearly written

Good luck :) - and keep us posted.

Thanks for the info. - I will try your suggestions.
I have AVG program installed for viruses - if I load another one from Housecall will this be okay?
Or do I have to uninstall mine first?
Do you find their software does the job?
Hope to hear from you soon before I download from Housecall.

Housecall is an 'online' virus checker - it will download some files and then run a virus check on your system from the server. There is NO need to uninstall your AVG anitvirus - Housecall will run independently. You may possbly be asked to disable AVG.

And, yes, it does the job and may find something which AVG did not.

    Thanks for the info.
If it doesn't work, will get back to you.
I did the Housecall online scan and it showed no viruses so I hope this is the answer.
