    Hi
Does anyone know where I can download Internet Explorer 5.50?
I can't seem to find it on Explorers page any more and when I tried to download 6.0 my machine did everything but blow up and I had to reformat the whole thing. Before that happened I had 5.50 and it worked fine. Any help?
    thanks

    Hi Mark
Thank you for the info and the reply. I went there and I see two versions of IE. What is SP and which one is just the browser? Little confused when I got there.

    SP = Service Pack.

I'd actually suggest that you install IE6 (there're really no good reason to use 5) but, if you really wanna use it, go with SP2.

    Hi Brett

I tried that once before and like I said in the first post I had to reformat my machine cause something happened. I would rather have 6 but for some reason it doesnt work. I saw that site that Mark gave me and it says the download is 5 hours! Yikes! Maybe I'll keep looking!

Well, since you formatted the drive, whatever caused your problem is not there anymore.
Any updating of IE will take awhile, as you will be downloading 17 to 40 mb's anyway.

    Hi Rhody1:

If you're running WIN95, then IE 5.5 SP2 is a good as you can do. IE6 won't run.

The download from EVOLT.ORG is a complete IE, whereas the old M$ download was just a kernel -- you'd put that on your computer, and it would download just what it would need from the M$ servers.

You might want to pop into a KINKO's and download the EVOLT version onto a CDROM -- it'll only take a couple of minutes. They usually have fast connections.

    Hi Jerry
Im running Win 98 Second Edition. So you think I should download 5.50 from that site? I'm thinking of downloading it from my brothers computer and putting it on a Rom. He has cable and might be a lot faster than mine. Thanks for the info, I appreciate it

    Hi All

I did download Internet Explorer 5.50 from that site today and I have it and it works perfectly! Maybe in a while I'll even try 6 again! I want to thank everyone who answered me and gave me help. You guys are great! Thank you all.

    :)
