    Hi All,
I've had a few problems with my win2k installation, so i've just upgraded my motherboard and chip to help cure this
I run a dual boot win2k/win98SE system and before changing the mobo, got both OS's ready for the swap. win98SE went fine, reconising all new stuff and now runs a treat, but when i try to boot up the win2k, i get no keyboard or mouse support, now as my win2k is password protected, i can't even boot into safe mode to fix this. anyone any ideas????

    thanks in advance, spotta

Try booting to your Windows 2000 Professional CD-ROM. When it starts setup and says at the bottom to press F6 for additional SCSI drivers (can't remember exactly what it says) hit the F7 key instead. You won't see anything happen but the PC should reboot but this time let it boot normally to Windows 2000. This will install another Hardware Abatraction Layer (HAL) for your new motherboard.

    aha,
that's a new one - i know about hitting F5 to set up as a normal p.c. but F7 is a new one to me, will try now, thanks

If your Win98 and Win2000 OS's are on different partitions I'd recommend reinstalling Win2000. It should detect and install the correct drivers/HAL for your new mobo.

    Hi,
I have installed another win2k OS on my 'putta, - that's how come i can access this forum!!!! but I still need to boot up my old one to transfer some files, my old win2k OS is on a 60g drive that my old motherboard wouldn't reconise (32g BIOS limitation) and has a dynamic drive overlay needed for windows to see the whole 60g (- well not needed anymore with new motherboard, but was needed) this ddo needs to boot up first, so when i boot from my new win2k, or win98, you cannot access the old one :(
any other ideas on how to boot my old win2k OS would be most welcome,
    thanks in advance, spotta :D
