Would it be advisable to install this Iomega Zip drive as a slave to my hard drive on IDE 1 or as a master drive on IDE 2 and slave my DVD-ROM to it?

Just my thoughts I would run it as a slave to your DVD-ROM. I do not know how you are planning to use the zip but wouldn't you be better off installing a DVD recorder. I have seen them cheaper than the price on the zip drive. You can pick up a pack of CD-R or CD-RW disk cheap and some time for free after a rebate. That would be cheaper than getting zip 750 disk. That way you could also make a DVD if you wanted.

Burning DVDs and CDs is hard and confusing. Disct at once, track at once, open session, closed session. Who can remember that ****? I want a Zip drive that can read my Zip disks faster than my current parallel port Zip drive. I figure IDE has to be faster.

Slave it to the DVD and remove all jumpers from the back of the zip drive - so, set DVD to Master or CS and make sure it is connected to the last header on your cable - zip should be on the middle header of the cable.

    ;)
