This problem has just began. I am on windows xp pro.
When I go to the web and right click on a gif or jpg and try to save it, the only option I have now is to save it as a bmp. I can not save gif or jpg. Any Suggestions?

Another problem that happen about the same time is I go to explorer view and try to view source and nothing happens....

    Sure hope someone can help....

Ok, I found the problem, so I will post it here and maybe help someone else out. I went to tools/internet options/temp internet files/settings and there was a couple files with status listed as unknown... by deleting those two files, it fixed my problem.
Can anyone tell me why this fixed the problem?
Both my file types are good as far as saving from the internet and I am now able to view source again.

I can only figure that you went further in View Objects and removed a couple of ActiveX controls. What these controls were, only you saw the names of them. Maybe some sort of photo upload control, Yahoo?

Known IE problem. You may run into this again as you only deleted a couple of things in tif. You may wish to do a deeper housecleaning or since it seems to be working now, stick to the mantra, "If it ain't broke don't fix it ". I'm sending along this link and info in case you need it later. It's something to keep in mind.
