Ok Here is a weird one. I went to Add/Remove Programs and then clicked on Add/Remove Windows Components. I get an error message "Setup was unable to open information file setupqry.." After I hit OK, I get a followup message stating "Specific error code is 0x2 at line 2011777033 Application could not be initializedâ€.

I do not know for sure, but the program that is suppose to run, is Windows Component Wizard.

    Please help

OS is Windows XP Pro with all Updates installed. there is NO Event Viewer log to look at either

Answer to your last point first ......
Right click on My Computer > Properties > Advanced > Start Up and Recovery > Settings and tick 'Write an Event to the System Log'

  3. to hide this advert.

I'm sorry to have misled, but the Event viewer is working, and write to, was checked. I ment to say that the warning that I got, was not logged in the Event Viewer.
