I was tought windows TIF (Temporary Internet Files) where supoised to make ie faster. In stead of having to go on the web, windows checks to see if it's in the TIF, that way it can get the infomation without having to go on the internet.

My DSL Connection got real slow. I deleted my TIF, wamo!!! my speed increased a lot. Why does TIF slow the system down when in theory, it's supoised to speed it up? Thanks, Chris.

When the TIF gets huge, with a broadband connection it can take more time for IE to search through that huge TIF file than it can to load it from the web.

If a file within the TIF folder gets corrupted, IE can really bog down trying to figure out what it is so it can decide if that's the one it wants.

When we only had dialup available, I kept the cache set at around 100 mgs. Now with DSL, I have it set at 10 mgs. I don't know why I chose 10 other than it seemed a good idea at the time. ;)

Wonder if "Never" look would be a good choise with DSL so it would never look, but rely on the fast DSL for the sites?

I just switched to "Never ". I'll post back and let you know about the results. I know one thing for sure, I would love to have the proformance I got right after I deleted them that time I spoke of in my first post. Slows down noticeable a little after that. Chris.
