I run my 'self employed business' thru Communicator 4.7 on a relatively older P366 w/ 64M (I think). In my address book, I've got about 1200 names on one 'address book' within my "main address book) that I use for my business... about 300 in my personal address book... and some various other address books, again, all within my home "main address book ". Lately when I go to send out e-mails to the 1200 names, when I get 1/2 way down the list it starts to 'blank out' and then crashes Netscape. I can even just scroll thru the list and it blanks out and crashes. If I try to go back up it blanks out and crashes. I've tried to create a 2nd address book to cut the list of 1200 names in 1/2. I still run into the problem about 1/2 of the way down the list.

Can anyone help resolve this issue for me? It's kind of put a kink in my business and I've tried a ton of different ways around it... to no avail.
    :(

PS - I'm not as computer literate as you folks, but I can follow directions pretty well (even computer related!).

    Welcome to the Forum, GregN!

    Hi Greg,

Your description smacks of a corrupt Address Book, and hopefully the below workaround will address the problem:

Before you begin, make a copy of ALL your Address Books, and save them to a backup folder. If you don't have a backup folder, then create one.

    To backup:
    Navigate to C:\Program Files\Netscape\Users\yourusername
Right click on the pab.na2 file
    Select: Copy
Open the newly created Backup folder
    Select: Paste
Repeat this for any additiona *.na2 files in the user name folder.

    Open the Communicator Address Book
    Click on: File | Export
Select: LDIF in the "Save as type" drop down menu, and save to your HD
    Close Communicator

    With Communicator closed:
    Navigate to C:\Program Files\Netscape\Users\yourusername
Rename the non functioning na2 files TO pab.na2.OLD, and all other na2 files which are non functioning directories

    Open Communicator - Address Book
Click on: File | New Address Book
    Give it a unique name
Note that the Personal Address Book is empty...

    Next:
    Click on: File | Import
Select the LDIF file which you exported

Hopefully moving the corrupt Address Book into the pristine/newly created Address Book will work.

Export as LDIF, rename, and Import each additional Address Book, if you have more than one, the same way.

    Post back with any questions.

    Ramona :D
