Hi, I've just converted from 4.77 to mozilla 1.4 and my messages came over find but not my address book.

I went to investigate and realized that a long-standing corruption in my address book (I can't see past the "Ds" in the book although when I enter a name in a new message, the name appears correctly) is probably the problem.

I tried exporting the address book to a number of formats but the export process hangs (LDIF) or generates only an export to the same entry in the "Ds" (CSV and others).

Is there a way to clean a currupted address book? Any other Ideas as to what could be the problem?

    Win 2000, Netscape 4.77 to Mozilla 1.4

    Welcome to the Forum, oneworldwide!

    Hi oneworldwide,

So your Communicator Address Book has been corrupt for some time? Hmmmmm. Can you see anything in the "D" listings that give you even a clue? Something is obviously amiss with the listings in that area...

    Try this:
    With Communicator closed:
    Navigate to C:\Program Files\Netscape\Users\yourusername
    Rename pab.na2 TO pab.na2.OLD (Edited)

    Open Communicator - Address Book
Click on: File | New Address Book
    Give it a unique name
Note that the Personal Address Book is empty...
    Next:
    Click on: File | Import
    Select: pab.na2.OLD

    If pab.na2.OLD is imported successfully:
    (Those Addresses will now be in the "Personal Address Book}
    Highlight all entries in pab.na2.OLD - CTRL+A
Hold down the left mouse button and move/drag all the addresses from the pab.na2.OLD Address Book, to the NEWLY CREATED Address Book.

Hopefully moving the corrupt Address Book into the pristine/newly created Address Book will work.

    Ramona :D
