When I used to use WordPerfect, I had a function in the footer that printed the filename so that I could locate the file in the future.

Is there such a function in Word?

This is not the same type of function.

This inserts the file name at the cursor location but it is text rather than a function that (in Wordperfect) would read the filename and insert it.

I did insert it into a doc and then renamed and saved it to TEST.
When I reloaded it did not I(as wordperfect did) change that to TEST.DOC, the new name but retained the text from before.

I solved it myself by creating a macro that opens a footer, goes there and Autotexts the filename.

Not quite the same because with a function lilke WordPerfect, I was able to put the filename and the bottom of a template and when I Used it and saved the new file name, it changed the footer.
