Say if I wanted to download some images in a gallery, they are all embedded within .html files usually I have to go to each one, right+click then save image as... (a labourious pain)
Is there any free software that can do this for me? I tried some kind of web spider program before and it could never do it, the best I got was the index thumbnails.

I tried "get right" too and it still requires you to click on the indivual html files in the dir to extract the images...there has to be something that can retrieve the full images automatically?!?

In IE, Toolbar > File > Save As > Select a Folder

The whole page will come out. "IE" page in one file. Then there will be a folder within the folder you selected, all the graphics will pop into that folder, including banners.

It's not too hard to then move the .jpgs or whatever into another folder.

Your right it did save the page but heres the problem, it only saved the thumbnail index's for the images, not the actually full size image themselves (that requires you to click it to expand another html image file)...ahh..why's it so hard to do this!

The best I've EVER had is to be able to get the gallery thumbnails with any software I tried.

Haven't used this software myself yet (just downloaded it for later) but on the info page for the utility submitted in a previous reply, it clearly states:

This suggests that in the user preferences there is a way to set the utility to recover images from 1,2 or as many links deep as you want.

You might try the E2 Browser. You can extract images, mp3's, links, or whatever into a "playlist" and save them:

    http://www.e2browser.com/

An alternative is to simply add the page of thumbnails to your Favorites, check the box to make it available offline, and set the options to download all web content one link deep from the start page.

Thanks for the ideas, unfortunatly Picpluc did'nt have an option for password protected sites, so it skipped the page entirely. The E2 browser looks promising, I tried to make the page offline available but the same thing happened, all it did was make a copy of the Html layouts ect, it would'nt save any full sized images from those html pages, just thumbnails..arghhh!

Another option might be using a utility called "Offline Explorer ", it enables you to download all the "files" of a website including all the html pages of that site. Also it downloads all the files in the same organisation as they were uploaded i.e. all the files into seperate organised folders. Therefore, you might be lucky and all the pictures that you want might have been created in just one folder.

It's worth give it a try. However, configure a bit the options because it can even download you all the files of other websites that are linked to it.

You can download a trial version of it from here

Hope this helps you out !
