I am using Office XP with Frontpage and Windows XP. I am new to using XP and didn't have this problem with Windows 98. When I try to open files with FrontPage, after about the 3rd file, I get a memory error. There is no way that I am out of memory...this is the only program running. Obviously a little glitch somewhere. Does anyone else have this problem?
Thanks for the help...I am very frustrated. I have even uninstalled and re-installed OfficeXP with no luck.

    - how much physical memory?
    - how large pagefile?
    - how much free space on the Hd that houses your pagefile?

    Just noticed something

I have just noticed a folder under my Program Files called "frontpage" and in that folder is another called "version 3.0" and then a folder called "BIN ". I am unable to delete this as it says that BIN is being used. I didn't install this program (my frontpage was part of OfficeXP) and have no clue where it came from. Could this be related to my problem??

The BIN file is not in use by anyone else(I am the only user on the system) and when I hit CTRL-ALT-DEL to see what is running, this is not. Why can't I delete it??

Oh, I have a new Dell Dimension 8300 with only Office XP installed so far. Memory 512MB. 63 Percent free Physical Memory. Total Virtual Memory 1761 with 81 percent free.

The file I was working with was a small 14kb file and was the only open file at the time.

IceWine: I have Win98SE and Office 2000 and also have the same directory and sub directories:

Program Files\Microsoft Frontpage\Version 3.0\Bin. There are four exe files in the Bin subdirectory.

It is probably put there by the Office install although like you I don't know the function of it. I would suggest you leave it alone as it probably has something to do with the operation of the Frontpage software and the Office suite.

BIN = binary = (usually) a program or subprogram. Probably some piece of Frontpage that loads at startup.

BTW, if you could manage to get rid of the BIN files, your app probably wouldn't run.

Suggestion - try uninstalling the program, rebooting, and installing it again. Might also be good to run cleanup on the drive before you reload.

Guys - I don't think this thread is the result of two threads being merged.

    It's a Windows thing

After much frustration I decided to format..hey, it's a new system with nothing much installed to lose. AFter the clean format..guess what, the microsoft frontpage folder appeared. I asked around at another forum (not that I doubt the gurus here!! ;) and they said that the only way to get rid of this was to either de-select it from the CD install (I didn't have that option) or to re-install Frontpage Express and then it will appear in ADD/REMOVE. Apparently the re-install is available from Windows Product Updates...NOT...I couldn't find it anywhere. I have some articles that I was referred to regarding this ( Microsoft Knowledge Base Article - 232056)

Hey, if this is conflicting with my Office XP I just need it GONE...any help would be appreciated! Thanks
