    Hi Ramona,

Me again!! It started yesterday and I don't understand why nor what to do to change it nor where to find the fix in Netscape Solutions.

I received a newsletter from AARP and rarther then it coming in as it normally has it has a box with the following in it.
    Part 1.1 Plain Test, text/plain, encoding 7
bit. I couldn't open it until a few minutes ago and LO & Behold it opened. What's going on?

In addition I received another one with the box except it had a different messages and it has refused to open period. It reads, Part 1.1 Hyertext markup language (text/Hmtl) Encoding Quoted -Printable. It always came in normally as well.

I haven't been playing with any of the
settings so I'm in the dark as to why it is doing it.

Maybe if I was certain what HTML really is I could understand it a bit

    Regards,
    Oscar.

PS You folks certainly put in a lot of work and time settings that Solution site up. It would seems very tedious to me along with a few headaches. For what's it's worth I think you all did a great job.

I was not sure just what I was looking for this time. had I been I'm sure I could have helped myself.

    Hi Oscar,

First of all, is this happen in Communicator 4.7x or Netscape 7.x?

Have you checked your settings in:
    View | Attachments
It sounds like that setting has been changed to disable viewing attachments Inline

    HTML = Hypertext Markup Language
This is code used in creating web pages. A code is used for colored text, or to insert an image, or a table, etc.

Most Newsletters offer the option to receive in either Plain Text or HTML. If you opt for plain text, there are no images, etc., in the Newsletter. If you opt for HTML, then you see all the graphics, blinking ads, etc.

Sorry I didn't have anything for this issue listed on the Solutions page. If there, it would have been listed under the "Mail & Address Books" topic. If more folks come back with this same problem I'll be sure to add it to the page.

It's always good to know that the hard work pays off, when users like you give such positive feedback... and thanks!

Let us know if you continiue to have problems!

    Plain and HTML Text

Thank You Ramona. That was the reason the strange stuff was happening all right. Guess how that happened??? Big Stoop, me did it Tue. night.

My great neice sent me an e-mail but the lines were going on forever so I checked to shorten them and unclicked the one above it which I shouldn't have done. I learn a lot that way but the problem I don't remember it .

I'll never learn, I've always have down things like that and I don't see myself changing.

But I meet some very nice people such as you on the net that sets me straight .

I certainly appreciate it when you or your friends pull me out of the swamp. Thank you again.

Is there such a program as a good pop-up stopper?

    Regards,
    Oscar

    Hi Oscar,

Glad that I'm around to get you back to the straight and narrow! ;)

Is there a good popup stopper!!!

Oscar, my friend, it's called..... druuuuum roooooolll.........

    NETSCAPE 7.XX

Don't you have Netscape 7 installed? Go to Edit | Preferences | Privacy & Security | Popup Windows
    Enable: Block unrequested popup windows

You will not be bothered again with those annoying windows!

Hello Ramona. This my first posting to this Forum but browsing around it I can see it won`t be my last! Eeveryone seems so helpful. Thanks.

I was interested in your reply about pop-up windows so went there as you suggest. When I got to Privacy & Security and clicked it, nothing happened as you describe it. I got a window that that said if no subcategories appear double click the section header. I did. Still nothing. Am I doing something wrong here?

I recently upgraded to W\XP and Netscape 7.1 at the same time (I prefer Netscape as a mail client) and as XP has its own Pop-up stopper could it be overriding Netscape. Sounds impossible but stranger things have happened!

    Any advice?

    Welcome to the Forum, Lochinvar!

    Hi Lochinvar,

I was just doing some searches to see if I could find anyone else with your problem. Glad that the "magic" three hour interval did the trick! ;)

I was thinking that you had a bad install...
